Description
Abarth 500 / 595 Flywheel Bolt — Single (6 Required Per Flywheel)
Replacement flywheel bolt for the Abarth 500 and 595, sold as a single unit. 6 bolts are required for a complete flywheel fitting. Flywheel bolts are a single-use fastener — they must be replaced every time the flywheel is removed, whether fitting a new solid mass flywheel, replacing a dual mass flywheel, or carrying out clutch work that requires flywheel removal. Reusing old flywheel bolts is a safety risk and is not recommended under any circumstances.
Important: Always replace all flywheel bolts when removing the flywheel. These are torque-to-yield (TTY) fasteners that stretch during tightening and cannot be safely reused. Reusing stretched flywheel bolts risks flywheel detachment, which can cause catastrophic gearbox and engine damage. Order 6 for a complete set.
Key Specifications
- Fitment: Abarth 500 and 595
- Application: Flywheel to crankshaft bolt
- Type: Single-use torque-to-yield (TTY) fastener
- Supplied: Single bolt — order 6 for a complete flywheel fitting
Why Flywheel Bolts Must Be Replaced
Flywheel bolts are torque-to-yield (TTY) fasteners. When tightened to the specified torque, they stretch slightly beyond their elastic limit — this controlled stretch is what creates the clamping force that holds the flywheel securely to the crankshaft. Once a TTY bolt has been stretched, it cannot generate the same clamping force if retightened. Reusing a stretched flywheel bolt risks:
- Insufficient clamping force on the flywheel
- Flywheel movement or detachment under load
- Catastrophic damage to the engine, gearbox, and clutch
At the cost of a bolt, there is no justification for reusing old ones. Always fit 6 new bolts when the flywheel is removed.
When to Order Flywheel Bolts
- Fitting a solid mass flywheel conversion — see our Abarth 500/595 Solid Mass Flywheel
- Replacing a worn or failed dual mass flywheel
- Any clutch replacement that requires flywheel removal
- Engine removal or crankshaft work
Fitment & Compatibility
Designed for the Abarth 500 and 595. Always torque flywheel bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque setting — do not reuse old bolts or estimate torque by feel. Professional installation by a qualified transmission specialist is strongly recommended. For other Abarth drivetrain components, see our full Abarth range.
