Brake Fitting Adaptors

Brake line fittings, adaptors and connectors for building, modifying or repairing brake and clutch hydraulic systems. BRT Motorsport holds 40 brake fittings in stock, in stainless steel, brass and anodised alloy, across metric and imperial threads.

Which brake fitting thread do I need?

Most brake line work comes down to three threads:

  • M10 x 1.0 — the standard metric brake line thread, used on most European vehicles
  • 3/8" x 24 UNF (-3 / AN3) — the imperial size used on AP Racing and most performance brake components, and on braided brake hose ends
  • M12 x 1.0 — turns up on some master cylinders, unions and OE hard lines

Fittings also differ by seat shape — convex or concave — and the two will not seal against each other. If the line is tight but still weeping, a mismatched seat is the usual cause. We stock convex-to-concave adaptors in both threads at £4.19.

Converting between threads

Male-to-male unions to join what you have to what you need:

  • M10 x 1 to M12 x 1 — M12 x 1 male to M10 x 1 female £5.15, and M10 x 1 male to M12 x 1 female £5.15. Both directions, so you can adapt either way without re-making the line
  • Metric to imperial — M10 x 1 to 3/8" UNF male/male £3.99
  • Like-for-like unions — M10 x 1 male/male £3.99, 3/8" UNF male/male £3.99
  • Stepping up a size — 3/8" UNF (-3) to 7/16" UNF (-4) £3.99, and AN4 to 7/16" UNF £4.99
  • Seat conversion — convex to concave, M10 x 1 £4.19 or 3/8" UNF £4.19

Bulkhead fittings

For routing a hard line cleanly through a panel, firewall or bulkhead.

  • Straight — M10 x 1 stainless £5.99, M10 x 1 brass £8.88, 3/8" UNF stainless £5.99, M10 x 1 to -3 £5.99
  • 90° — M10 x 1 and 3/8" UNF, £10.99 each
  • Bulkhead tees — M10 x 1 and 3/8" UNF, £10.99 each
  • Lock nuts — M10 x 1 stainless £1.25 in small or large diameter, M10 x 1 brass £1.78, 3/8" UNF £1.25

Tees and crosses

  • Tee with locating tab — M10 x 1 and 3/8" UNF, £12.99 each. The tab stops the fitting rotating as you tighten
  • Female tees — M10 x 1 £8.99, 3/8" UNF £8.00
  • Female cross — M10 x 1, £14.99. Four-way, for splitting to both rear calipers and a bias valve from one union

Swivel fittings

A swivel lets the fitting turn on the line, so you can align a hose without twisting it or fighting the routing.

  • 3/8" UNF female swivel 90° — £5.99
  • 3/8" UNF male to female swivel 90° — £5.99
  • 3/8" UNF female swivel union, straight — £4.99

NPT adaptors and gauge take-offs

For pressure senders, gauges and switches that use NPT threads.

  • AN3 to 1/8" NPT female take-off — £5.99. The usual way to tap a gauge or pressure sender into a brake or oil line
  • Straight adaptors — 1/8" NPT to 3/8" UNF £3.99, 1/8" NPT to M10 x 1 £3.99
  • 90° adaptors — 3/8" UNF to 1/8" NPT £7.99, M10 x 1 to 1/8" NPT £7.99

Banjo adaptors

  • M10 x 1 banjo adaptor — £6.80, converts a banjo connection to an M10 x 1 male thread
  • M10 banjo to 3/8" UNF — £5.59, anodised alloy
  • 7/16" banjo to 8mm barb — £11.95. Master cylinder reservoir feed, for running soft hose from the reservoir to a banjo port

Blanking plugs and caps

For capping an unused port, or blanking a line while you work on the system.

  • 3/8" x 24 UNF alloy blanking plug (male) — £2.49
  • 3/8" x 24 UNF alloy blanking cap (female) — £2.85

Quick release dry break coupling

AN3 (-3 JIC / 3/8" x 24 UNF) quick release dry break coupling — £32.99, in stainless steel or aluminium. Both halves seal as they separate, so a line can be disconnected and reconnected without draining the system or drawing air in. Used where something has to come apart regularly — removable steering columns, quick-change assemblies and trackside servicing.

Clutch fitting adaptor

Clutch fitting to M10 x 1 male — £9.45, stainless steel. Converts an OE push-in clutch fitting to a standard M10 x 1 thread, so a braided clutch line can replace the original.

Stainless steel is the default across the range for corrosion resistance; brass is available on the bulkhead fittings where a softer, more forgiving seal is wanted, and anodised alloy on the banjo adaptors and blanking plugs where weight matters.
